About us
ACABS research group was established 2001 at Aalborg University Esbjerg. The group has its main competences in Applied Chemometrics, Process Analytical Chemometrics (PAC), Acoustic Chemometrics, Applied Physics, Applied Biotechnology and Sampling. In the period 1995-2001 professor Esbensen headed a similar group at Telemark University (HIT), Norway. ACABS has undertaken approximately 35 R&D and application projects nationally, in Scandinavia or internationally, covering a broad range of industrial sectors, focusing on existing and developing sensor technologies within the field of Process Analytical Technologies (PAT), mainly from oil & gas, cement, paper, food, feed, wine, biomass conversion and bioenergy sectors, as well as basic science projects concerning natural resource characterization and environmental monitoring.
Based on both industrial and university R&D projects, more than 60 M.Sc. and 15 conferred or existing Ph.D.s are on record. ACABS has so far mainly supported its R&D financing needs by direct industry projects/ sponsorships. Currently method and application excellence cover PAT, representative sampling, multivariate image analysis, including advanced texture characterization and acoustic chemometrics. Recently ACABS has been significantly strengthened by the field of applied physics and green engineering (biorefinery).
