The entire VIP personal at institute 18 participated in an interdisciplinary seminar for the Department of Biotechnology, Chemistry and Environmental Engineering which took place at Comwell Conference Center, Rebild Bakker, November, 20-21. The goal of the seminar was to allow all research groups (and as many individual scientists as possible), now located both in Aalborg, Esbjerg and Ballerup, to present an overview of R&D activities with the specific aim to find possible new ways for collaboration (read: new, joint funding applications).
ACABS had an honor of opening the seminar, after the welcome speech by institute head Jens-Ole Frier. ACABS contributed by five short (15 minute) presentations: Kim surveyed ACABS’s history including its current main research areas, and also found time to introduce chemometrics; Sergey presented a selected set of examples of application of Multivariate Image Analysis (MIA); Jørgen and Steffen had their main focus on optical microscopy and 3D imaging, while Jens-Bo shared highlights from projects within bio-gas, bio-fuels and bio-refinery activities.
The seminar resulted in many new potential collaboration ideas, some already at the stage of application readiness, others which will need some follow-up activity to bring to a similar stage. From ACABS’ point of view the seminar succeeded very well, contributing to allowing AAUE activities to become much better known at both other AAU locations – at least three new collaborative projects was launched already in Rebild. More will follow shortly.
